Agriculture Feeds Children

Good Samaritan Mission

Feeding hungry people is no easy task in India! We are continually looking for ways to help our in-country partners become self-sustaining. Good Samaritan Mission (GSM) has acquired local fields to grow rice. This rice helps feed the children and others who are helped by their outreaches. The rice can also be sold to raise money to meet their growing needs. GSM is working to acquire a herd of water buffalo as a source of meat and milk. Cows, being considered sacred in India are not eaten, so water buffalo provide a much needed source of protein in meat. Holy Cow, a charity in Sisters, Oregon as well as members from Sisters Community Church, have been instrumental in raising funds to allow GSM to purchase high quality animals for breeding. We have hopes to eventually help with other animals, such as chickens, which will provide meat and eggs.
