Health care may be available for those with money, but for the poor, it is almost non-existent. Thanks to churches, charities and medical volunteers, there are places scattered throughout India where the poor can receive some type of care which is provided through Good Samaritan Mission (GSM). Expired or donated medications are deemed better than nothing so supplies are stored and administered throughout the year. GSM also tries to provide each with some food items. These medical and food items are completely based on the giving from others. GSM has started a nursing school whose students assist with local volunteer doctors. Leprosy victims are also treated with wound cleansing, medication applied, and rebandaged. GSM provides a meal for all the patients.
